Woodlawn Arts Academy would like to express sincere gratitude for the community’s support during its 2022 Annual Appeal, “Reset, Rebuild, Restore, Recreate.” The contributions from this annual campaign will assist with programming costs and financial assistance for students in need. The Sauk Valley community’s generosity helps make Woodlawn’s motto—“Where the Arts are for Everyone”—a reality.
Executive Director Christy Zepezauer stated, “I am so pleased to see the continuous growth and interest in the arts at Woodlawn Arts Academy. The presence of the arts in our community and its positive impact is evident. The Academy’s commitment to excellence is stronger than ever as we consistently strive to offer quality artistic opportunities to the Sauk Valley area. It was very exciting to receive such abundant support during our annual campaign. We are extremely grateful!”
Woodlawn Arts Academy depends on contributions for a third of its operating budget, and a quarter of all Annual Appeal donations go directly to financial assistance for those who qualify and are in need. Since 2011, Woodlawn has given financial assistance totaling more than $195,000.
This year, the Academy brought back its ROY G BIV Color Fun Run. Nearly 200 youth and adults participated in the run, during which they were sprayed with powdered color.
“I want to thank not only the participants and generous sponsors, but also my staff and countless volunteers who helped make this event a success once again. After three years off from the color run, everyone was excited to see it return, and it was a fitting way to wrap up the Academy’s annual appeal.”
Woodlawn Arts Academy began operation at its current facility in October 2006 and offered classes in visual, performance, theatre and literary arts with 41 student registrations. That number has grown to 3,600 student registrations annually, with thousands of people reached through Woodlawn programs and events! Today, instruction in all disciplines of the arts—including visual, music, dance, theatre, culinary, and preschool and education—is offered to students age 8 months through adult. Most fall classes begin just after Labor Day, and registration is now available.
Woodlawn Arts Academy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 educational organization that is proud to be an agency supported by the United Way of Whiteside and Lee counties. For more information about programs and classes, visit www.woodlawnartsacademy.com or call (815) 626-4278.
