On Sunday, July 17th, at approximately 8:09am, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at the intersection of US RT. 30 and Millard Rd. in rural Morrison. The crash was between an East bound vehicle driven by Miranda M. Jenkins, age 34, of Clinton, Iowa and a South bound Horse Drawn Buggy, being operated by Lewis E. Weaver, age 74, and Mary W. Weaver, age 66 of rural Fulton, Illinois.
The Weavers were exiting the intersection, while heading South on Millard Rd. when their buggy was struck by Ms. Jenkins, vehicle. The Weavers were ejected from their buggy as a result of the crash and had to be transported from the scene by Morrison EMS to Mercy One Medical Center in Clinton, IA. They were then flown to the University of Iowa Hospital for further treatment.
There was no mention on the status or well being of the horse in the report.
The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Fulton Police Department and Illinois State Police along with Morrison EMS and Morrison Fire Department.
