On Saturday, August 6th, at approximately 2:33pm Rock Falls Police responded to the 400 block of Garden Circle after a 9-1-1 caller reported an assault. When officers arrived, they found a male identified as Ronald Fistler, 61, of Rock Falls injured on the ground. Fistler was transported to CGH Medical Center for treatment of injuries He was later transferred to OSF St. Anthony in Rockford due to the severity of his injuries. Fistler is still hospitalized in critical condition.
Rock Falls Police arrested Scott Hagerman, 60, of Rock Falls for Aggravated Battery in relation to this incident. He was taken to the Whiteside County Jail to await a bond hearing. Hagerman’s bond was set at $15,000 and he was released on August 8th, after posting $1,500 (10%).
On Thursday, August 11th, Hagerman’s bond was increased to $40,000 due to new information about the extent of Fistler’s injuries. Hagerman turned himself in to Rock Falls Police and was taken to the Whiteside County Jail.
This incident is still under investigation by Rock Falls Police.
An arrest is merely an accusation and the arrested person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
