Thank you again to the amazing artists who helped make our inaugural Tiny Art Show a huge success! After a month on display at our local art gallery, the Loft on Main, artwork is now available for pickup at Odell. Please note that it may take a moment or two to locate each piece. Thank you for sharing your art with the community!
If you loved the Tiny Art Show, you’ll want to check out Morrison School’s annual Art Exhibit coming up this weekend, May 14 & 15 from 11am-3pm. This free event is held at MJHS (300 Academic Dr.) and features a wide range of fabulous artwork from K-12 students. The community is invited to attend!
Registration is now OPEN for Odell’s 2022 Summer Reading Club: Oceans of Possibilities! Summer Reading Club is a free program for children preschool-aged through 8th grade that encourages kids to continue reading and learning over summer break. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED: please register online by Saturday, May 28th.
Readers will be treated to fun and educational ocean-themed learning opportunities over the course of 5 weeks, beginning the week of June 13th. In addition to weekly to-go packs, readers will enjoy a Story Walk, BINGO board, and a few other outside activities! As always, participants will earn prizes each week for tracking their reading as well as FREE BOOKS at the end of the program.
Our popular play kitchen and puppet theater have re-opened! Come explore, play, and learn with your young one at Odell! Please note that a responsible parent/caregiver must remain in the children’s area during play. Toys are sanitized nightly. We have enjoyed seeing many families back in the library!
The Odell Public Library Friends, Staff, and Board wish to express their immense gratitude to the community on the completion of the “Fund Our Floor” campaign. Select members of the Friends, Staff, and Board are working to finalize flooring selections with installation late summer or fall. We can’t wait to refresh your library!
ROOFING UPDATE
The City of Morrison and Odell Public Library received a Rural Development grant from the USDA to help replace the roof on the library and community room building. The existing asphalt roof will be removed and replaced with a metal roof to prevent future leaks. We are grateful for this opportunity to maintain and improve our local facilities.
Originally slated to begin in April, roof installation has been delayed by rainy weather and supply chain issues.
Find all the newest titles by scrolling to the bottom of the Odell website or view the May book order here.
Have you heard? Thanks to a recent Inter-governmental Agreement (IGA), Odell student library cards can be issued at no cost to any child enrolled in MCUSD #6. Ask a librarian how your student can get a library card today!
Thank you, Morrison Kindergarteners for visiting the library and helping us decorate for Summer Reading Club! The students of Mrs.Brackemyer, Mrs.Smith, and Mrs.Connelly toured Odell, learned all about library cards, enjoyed a storytime, and even made paper plate fish. It was so much fun to have all that energy and excitement at Odell!
There is still a wonderful selection of books for youth and adults in our rotating book sale! All titles are free or by donation. Come check it out!
