United Way of Whiteside County will hold an online auction fundraiser from 8am on Thursday, September 29th, through 9pm on Tuesday, October 4th . The auction is to benefit the L.I.F.E. (Literacy Is Fun for Everyone) program. L.I.F.E. provides a free book every month from the Dolly Parton
Imagination library to all children from birth to age 5 in Whiteside County. Auction bidders will be able to bid on more than 100 purses, baskets, and gift certificates that have been donated by area businesses and organizations.
The auction boasts a variety of items from local individuals and businesses such as designer purses stuffed with accessories and a Culver’s party with a visit from their mascot Scoopie. Bidders will also be interested in the 10-day condo rental on Hutchinson Island, Florida or desserts made just for the auction winner.
“The proceeds of this auction make sure that high quality books are available at no charge to every child in Whiteside County” said Power of the Purse Chair, Betty Clementz. “Since 2010 it’s been incredibly powerful to see how deeply the community cares about growing generations of young readers.”
United Way will be running the auction through an online auction platform designed for ease of use and security. “You can track and manage your bids even while on the go” said United Way CEO, Keri Olson. “The bidding site is safe and secure, and allows winners to pay online or in person at the United Way office.”
